I have to bribe Iyal to help around the house. I supposed this is typical of an 18-year old fellow. So much complaining! You’d think that I was asking him to build a pyramid with one hand tied behind his back! Emptying the dishwasher is like negotiating something at Camp David.

Me: “You do the top, and I’ll do the bottom.”

Iyal: “You do the top and the bottom and I’ll do the silverware.”

Me: “Iyal, you do the top and I’ll do the bottom and the silverware.”

This goes on and on until I say, “If you do the top and the bottom and I do the silverware, we’ll go to Starbucks.”

  1. There’s never a dull moment with teens and young adults with challenges.
I relate but I’ve the opposite problem my girls are more chore allergic than my challenged young men.
Teaching responsibility is so much harder at home. I feel lucky my guys can hold it together in public cause at home the melt downs happen
I think when Iyal visits us he can see he’s not alone. Reminding him that his friends have to do chores also may help.
